WISE TRAVELLING

mike de guzman | filipino travelog
One way to make our stress less is by having a short break at work. Basically, going out of town or travelling abroad is one of the choices.
Several years back, people used to believe that this kind of leisure was for those who could afford. Nowadays, travelling has been this so easy and manageable by people from the middle class due to the advent of numerous practical and convenient ways. In addition, to make your getaway hassle free and truly a memorable one, there are several options to choose from: seat sale, accommodation using pension house or inn, and tour package with reasonable prices.

PROMO FARE
It has become more famous as Piso (P1.00) Fare or other airlines may call it as Zero Fare.
Today, most people rely on this promo from various local and international airlines in the country. For them, they were not able to visit their loved ones without the benefit of this promo.
How to get updates from a seat sale? Here are some ways.
You can get regular alert message via SMS from the airlines like Cebu PacificAir AsiaTigerair, and PAL. To do this, you can sign in or register on their website to receive a notice thru email. You can also like their page on Facebook or other social-networking websites. Another one is by having a credit card account in Cebu Pacific CITI Bank. You automatically receive regular notices for free using your mobile number. This special service is exclusive for CITI bank cardholders only. The advantage of this is you get ahead of others who are non-members.
Most promo fare or seat sale runs for approximately 3 days or so or sometimes until the seats last. However, the travel period is often 5 to 6 months from the date of reservation. For local destinations in the Philippines, the promo often applies during the off-peak season or rainy season which starts from June until October.
The price of a seat sale is 10 times cheaper than a regular rate, for instance, a regular flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa, Palawan ranges from P4,500 to P6,000, while the promo fare is only P600.

ACCOMMODATION

Having nice accommodation is one of the essentials of your vacation; on the other hand, it must not be luxurious or lavish as what most people would want. For me, as long as your room is clean and has the basic amenities such as air-condition, firm mattress, and wi-fi connection, I don't think four or five star hotel is needed.
For five years of going out of the country, I was able to experience different services and see the amenities from pension house to bakcpacker's inn in South East Asia. If you try to look the idea of travelling, you are not there to sleep and stay in your room the whole day and most of the time, you are out there to enjoy the local food, the culture, and try things that you have never done before. Thus, I don't think putting so much budget in 5 star hotels is worth the money.
People would always ask me what places I prefer to visit most of the time. My only answer is the countries in South East Asia. To be honest, the value of food, souvenir items, accommodation, and tour packages is 2 to 3 times cheaper than in my own country, and that's the reality. In the contrary, if you will be touring around the Philippines, there are some online shopping websites that offer inexpensive accommodation with 3 to 4 star quality of service and modern facilities. There are several websites out there, but only a few can be reliable such as MetrodealCashcashpinoyEnsogo, and Groupon. You just have to be patient on searching for the hotel that matches your needs, but be careful with the details particularly the reservation period, agreement, and modes of payment, or else you may end up in spending much.

TOUR PACKAGE

Nothing compares the feeling of fulfillment once you made an itinerary or travel plan all by yourself.
Whenever I travel, I create my own itinerary whether it's local or in a foreign country, but it takes a lot of effort and extensive research to make one. Other people call this as DYI  or do-it-yourself concept of travel planning without any help from a travel agency. I usually search details, read other traveler's blogs and reviews, and ask people who have been to the place before. This idea, however, is not suitable for people who can no longer do those tasks. For me, tour package is more convenient and practical for people like elderly and PWD (people with disability). Tour operators do all the staffs, from van or boat transfers to preparing permits and paying necessary fees.

There is no way for us not to explore and see the world. Nothing will stop us to go beyond further and let our boundaries away.

I hope these little ways could help you in traveling with less worries and hassle.
