Ulding’s Hotel
I think, among the
accommodation in Tacloban, Ulding’s Hotel has the most affordable rate, and its
service deserves a 5-star merit. Although the hotel is small, but they always
maintain it as clean as possible. From the time you step into the reception
area until you reach your room, the you can smell this citrusy scent and it’s
somehow relaxing.
Reception Area
The furnishings are chic yet comfy. Since we were only 2 on
this tour, we chose the matrimonial room in a very reasonable price. This
includes a complimentary plated breakfast per guest which comes with any of the
beverages such as 3-in-1 coffee, tea, or fruit juice available, and dessert
like bananas or slices of pineapple. The room is fully air-conditioned with
flat screen TV, intercom, hot and cold shower, and fast wi-fi connection. Generally
speaking, most of us travelers can’t live without the access to wi-fi, very
useful for searching sites to visit and restos to try on, and of course,
updating your status to any of the social networking applications including
Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter.
Hotel's Hallway
Also, the rooms are secured by a keycard
lock. You’ll be more satisfied at this accommodation because of other
inclusions like individual towel, toothbrush with toothpaste, a small bar of
soap with a sachet of shampoo, and a pair of slippers. For me, it would have
been a complete package if they included the two-way airport service like what
most accommodation in Puerta Princesa usually have. It’s not really a big deal
though because the proximity of the airport to the hotel only takes 15-20
minutes by car, depending on the traffic or time of the day. What I was so glad
about this accommodation is the quality of service the staff offer.
Dining Area
They are
welcoming and very amenable to offer you assistance whenever possible. For
instance, Marge and her partner, who we met in Palompon for Kalanggaman Island
tour, also stayed in Ulding’s. Their flight the next day was at around 7 in the
morning. Then they asked the receptionist if they could have an early
breakfast, and to their surprise, it was granted. Could you imagine that! Who
would have served your breakfast as early as 5am.
