Every four years, Olympic Games are held by a chosen nation. The modern Olympic games are composed of two separate major competitions such as the Summer and Winter Games. In 2008, China was the 22nd country to host this huge even right at the capital city of Beijing.
Most of the sporting events were organized in the Green Village situated at the heart of the city. It accommodated virtually 11.000 athletes from 204 participating nations and more than ten million domestic and foreign tourists.
China began constructing 31 Beijing-based venues on May 2007 including other huge structures such as Green Village, The National Indoor Stadium, National Aquatic Center, Olympic Green Convention Center, and Wukesong Culture & Sports Center.
Most events were held and organized in Olympic Green Village where the world-class stadiums, sports centers, parks, a village were built including the National Stadium, National Aquatics Center, National Indoor Stadium, Fencing Hall National Convention Center, Beijing Olympics Tennis Centre, Beijing Olympics Green Archery Field, Beijing Olympics Green Hockey Stadium, Olympics Sports Center Stadium, and Sports Centre Gymnasium.

Tip:
Definitely, Olympic Green should be on your list if you will visit Beijing. However, if you'll visit this huge site, you have to plan your itinerary ahead of time. This may exhaust you the entire day if the map above was not used properly. One whole day is enough to stay on this site.
Attractions
Pangu 7 Star Hotel
Although we never see this up close and personal, but I got the chance to take some photos of this building. Who would have thought a hotel can be built like this. The design was really one-of-a-kind and very contemporary. The site is actually distant to the National Aquatics Centre (Water Cube)

Beijing National Indoor Stadium
National Aquatic Center
Also known as the 'Water Cube', is located on the west part of the Olympic Green. This center held most of the water competition such as swimming, diving, and synchronized swimming. The venue covers an area of approximately 207,000 sq ft, where both length and width are 580 ft. It also comprises of 4 floors with various functions.
This ingenuous idea was designed by Australian and Chines architects showing gigantic bubbles that envelops the whole exterior of the building. Today, the center organizes not only swimming competition but other sports and leisure activities as well. In addition, when it was renovated in 2010, the authority added other must-see attractions inside it like an indoor themed water parks, The Water World, and some establishments for spa, bars, and restaurants.

National Stadium
Also known as 'Bird's Nest,' is built in Olympic Green Village located in Chaoyang District. It was used as the main stadium of the said olympics from day one until this momentous event ended. Currently the stadium usually holds national and international sporting events and other activities.
