Accommodation
Many of you may wonder why we needed to stay in a hotel instead of just going directly to the ferry terminal. Well, for one, we wanted to avoid being late for our Corregidor day tour next day. Since Sun Cruises office is 10-min away by taxi, we decided to check-in. It was also convenient to have accommodation right after the cruise in Manila Bay. We had more time to relax and less burden of commuting from Sta. Rosa, Laguna to Manila.
Tip: If the hotel allows, you may have an early check-in to have a long time to rest and do other important errands before your cruise begins.
Palm Plaza is a 3-star accommodation at the heart of Malate, Manila City. It was built in 1994. Its location is near to a lot of bars, restaurants, and shopping malls. The hotel is just 20-min drive from the international and domestic airports. Palm Plaza is perfect for this particular tour because it is near to important establishments like Robinson’s Manila, a walking-distance away from its location.
You may notice that the building is a bit old but the interior is well maintained and full-furnished. I never had anything bad to say about its amenities and the service of its staff: the air-condition is rather cold and the hot shower is working. For a double standard bedroom, having a small table with 2 chairs is very useful.
Tip: To save some money, you can have your dinner or lunch, and even buy your snacks for the tour at Robinson’s.
We still had a few hours left before our itinerary that day, so we decided to stay in the said mall and met some of our closed friends in Manila.

Tour
Manila Bay Cruise
It has been my third time to experience brief tour along Manila Harbor but my first cruising with Sun Cruises. I used to do this tour using promo from Prestige Cruise, which I got from an online shopping website. There is a big difference between these 2 Cruise companies from the service to the food they serve. For me, Sun Cruises is very organized.
The crew as they demonstrate how to use the life vest in case of emergency
The passengers are well-designated on the ferry by having a seat number on the boarding sticker which Prestige never had. Sun Cruises has a decent covered waiting area for passengers unlike in Prestige, it has only tents with a few Orocan chair. The food they served was all good and I was able to go back and have some more which Prestige could not have for its passengers. The lower deck of Sun Cruises is air-conditioned.
The disadvantage of staying on the upper deck is the stinky smell of the seawater you may encounter all throughout the cruise while on the lower deck, the view outside is limited because it is enclosed with a few glass windows.
However, the advantages of the upper deck are the romantic feeling if you’re in a date and perfect view of the sunset and the pyro display of SM, Mall of Asia.
On the other hand, if you are on the lower deck, you have the easy access to buffet meals and no worries of the bad smell outside. This entire trip runs for about an hour.
Tip: If you plan to have a Manila Bay cruise, reserve your desired date 1 month before so the upper deck would be available. You must choose 6:15pm schedule on a weekend to enjoy the magnificent sunset along the horizon of the bay in Manila and fireworks display in front of SM, MOA while being serenaded by its talented singers.
Note: This particular cruise is not suitable for people who manifest motion sickness. The weather is unpredictable. You may not really know when you can have a smooth sailing along the bay.
