Thai Me Up & Fil Me Up with Thai and Filipino Cuisine

Thai Me Up & Fil Me Up is a very well known restaurant in CDO that offers lunch and dinner buffet on a very affordable price. As the name implies, most meals are inspired by Thai cuisine while Fil Me Up is anything about Filipino dishes. The restaurant has 2 branches, one on the ground floor of Ayala Centrio Mall and another one at the corner of Capistrano St. & Mabini Street. Before heading for this resto, you’d better check the schedule when the lunch or dinner buffet is available. Promo details may vary according to season.
 A home away from home
For me, dining out at its branch along Capistrano-Mabini Streets is better.  It’s way bigger and cosier than the one in Centrio Mall. What I like about this place is the distinct style of its ambiance. The owner seems to engage in designing the restaurant in and out. The bar uses a rather captivating facade of a house with a life-size tree on the side. If you’ll be at the bar, it feels like you’re enjoying your liquor just right in front of your house.  In addition, something that captured my attention was the 6 chandeliers in various illustrious colors.
We didn't mind the rather humid weather that time but
we enjoyed this very inviting interior

If you’re looking for another exciting way of enjoying your meals, you can try its 2 small cottages with low tables and some pillows to sit on. Surely, this is ideal for people who look for intimate time with their loved ones. Antiquity of some furnishings is seen in four corners of the place particularly by the pastry area near the entrance or the bar.
Some furnishings are antique that will welcome you at the entrance

Ideal at night but not in the afternoon if you don't want to be toasted
by the scorching hot of the sun

Trying Thai cuisine perhaps as part of your daring adventure for food is not bad anyway. The name of the game here is how it fills your starving stomach after a very tiring tour around the city or doing the white water rafting.
The experience at Thai Me Up restaurant won’t leave anyone dissatisfied. However, the food we had there was no longer warm. We would probably enjoy it more if they kept the food warm until it lasted. We just ate them the way they were because we were really hungry from our tour in the city that afternoon.
Lunch or dinner buffet- P299 with bottomless ice tea or P249 without

Various salads are also available such as potato salad, garden salad, apple salad with a few desserts like ginataang halo-halo and watermelon

VjANDEP- The Maker of Pastel of Camiguin

VjANDEP branch in CDO
It was on December of 1989 when a hobby of Ella turned to be the creation of pastel. She used to bake this bread for her great grandmother. Pastel then is a soft dough coffee bread. It was the Spaniards who transferred the knowledge to locals' ancestors on how to make pastel as part of the delicacy among Camiguignons. By the way, pastel is cake in Spanish word. It is usually made as a common treat in the tables of the influential people of Camiguin particularly during the special events or gatherings such as weddings, birthdays, fiestas, Christmas, and the like. It was on January 8, 1990 when Eleonor Popera Jose first commercialized this bread. The initial capital of P120, a fraction of what was left from her husband’s Christmas bonus, had created 3 dozens of the said bread and doubled the following day. This simple hobby of Ms. Ella had made it more profitable and seen its big potential.
Originally, Pastel has “yema” (custard) as its filling. Ms. Ella never stopped innovating the flavours of her product. Hence, she broadened her knowledge about baking by attending culinary classes or workshops. At present, Vjandep Pastel of Camiguin has more than 15 variants to choose from. Many may wonder what VjANDEP means. It actually comes from the initial of the couple’s names- Virgilio Jose AND Eleonor Popera. But it is promounded with a silent “j.”
